KBToysverse is more than an online store. We're building a community around the history, memories and future of KB Toys®, and our subscribers and collectors are an important part of it.
As KBToysverse grows, this page provides a permanent place to explain how membership benefits, special access, development samples and our general store policies work.
KBToysverse Substack Memberships
Our Substack community includes Free Subscribers, Paid Subscribers and Founding Members. Each level offers a different way to follow — and sometimes participate in — what we're building.
Free Subscribers
Free subscribers are part of the larger KBToysverse community and receive many of our regular stories, announcements and updates.

Samples, Prototypes & Development Items
One of the more unusual benefits we can occasionally offer our paid members is access to the actual product-development process.
While developing a new KBToysverse product, we may receive factory samples, printing tests, color tests, prototypes, material tests or other experimental pieces before determining whether an item should enter regular production.
A Peek Into the Back Room
Rather than keeping every development piece behind the scenes, KBToysverse may occasionally make some samples or prototypes available to Paid Subscribers and Founding Members.
These are development items — not regular product releases.
How Sample Access Works
Sample quantities are determined by the development process and may be extremely small. Membership does not guarantee access to a sample, prototype or test piece, and available pieces may be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Founding Members may receive priority access, additional choices or enhanced limits for certain sample opportunities.
KBToysverse may also retain development pieces for our permanent archive, photography, evaluation, testing, promotional purposes, business partners or other business needs.
From time to time, development items may also be shared with individuals who contributed to, assisted with or meaningfully supported a particular project.
What Makes a Sample Different?
Samples and prototypes may contain differences in color, printing, construction, material, packaging or other details compared with a final production item.
Sometimes a sample leads directly to the product that eventually reaches the store. Sometimes we change it. And sometimes the product never gets released at all.
That's part of what makes these pieces an interesting record of the KBToysverse story.
Early Access & Purchase Limits
Select KBToysverse releases may include different shopping windows or purchase limits based on membership level.
When early access or purchase limits apply, the dates, times and applicable limits will be communicated with that specific release.
Purchase limits may also vary by product and release. When limits apply, they will be clearly stated as part of the offer.
Our goal is simple: provide meaningful benefits to our most engaged community members while continuing to give as many collectors as possible an opportunity to participate.
Limited & Collector Products
Many KBToysverse products are created in relatively small production runs, and certain designs may never be produced again in exactly the same combination.
When an item is identified as a sample, prototype, test piece, limited edition, production variant or another special designation, we'll do our best to clearly explain what that designation means.
Normal Manufacturing Variations
Because many of our products are manufactured collectibles, minor variations can occur from piece to piece. Small differences in printing placement, color, materials, surface finish or construction may be normal characteristics of the manufacturing process rather than defects.
Cancellations, Returns & Exchanges
We want you to be excited when a KBToysverse package arrives.
Because many KBToysverse products are limited-run collectibles produced in relatively small quantities, sales are generally considered final once an order has entered fulfillment, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
Changed Your Mind?
We generally do not accept returns or exchanges for buyer's remorse, changes of mind or minor variations that fall within normal manufacturing tolerances.
If Something Is Wrong With Your Order
If we made a mistake, your order arrives damaged, you receive an incorrect item or there is another genuine fulfillment problem, please contact us.
We'll review the circumstances and determine an appropriate resolution, which may include replacement, exchange, refund or another solution depending on the situation and available inventory.
Because replacement inventory for limited collector releases may be extremely limited, we cannot guarantee that an identical item will always be available for replacement.
Shipping & Delivery
Tracking information will be provided when available after your order has been prepared for shipment.
Once a package enters the carrier's network, delivery times can vary. If a shipment appears unusually delayed, missing or damaged in transit, contact us so we can help determine the appropriate next steps.
A Community Built Around the Fun of Collecting
We're collectors and nostalgia fans, too. Part of the excitement is discovering what's coming next, finding something unusual and occasionally getting access to something you weren't expecting.
That's the spirit behind our membership program.
Some perks will be announced. Some will be surprises. Some development experiments will become products. Others may end up only as a handful of samples in collector displays and the KBToysverse archive.
Not everything has to become a product to become part of the story.
